The RHEINTACHO Messtechnik company manufactures and sells devices that include lithium-ion batteries.
To comply with ever stricter measures and regulations, we are obliged to draw your attention to the shipping regulations for devices that include lithium-ion batteries.
These regulations mean that shipping devices that include lithium-ion batteries is not that simple anymore. However, the lithium-ion batteries used in RHEINTACHO devices are below defined limits and are declared as “small batteries/cells”.
Before you continue to sell RHEINTACHO Messtechnik GmbH devices, please find out from your shipping agency what you need to be aware of.
If you would like to return devices that include lithium-ion batteries to us, please complete the following questionnaire and note the points below.
Handling lithium-ion battery packs
ADR / road freight
Applicable only to cells / batteries alone (UN 3480) and when "packed with equipment" (UN 3481):
Packaging:
- Cells / batteries must be packed in inner packaging
- They must be secured against short-circuits
- Packed in strong outer packaging
- Lithium marking (including the phone number of the sender) placed on the outer packaging
Only applies to cells / batteries "IN equipment" (UN 3481):
Packaging:
- They must be secured against short-circuits
- Packed in strong outer packaging
Or
- Cells / batteries are protected by the equipment itself
- Accidental activation prevented
- Lithium marking (including the phone number of the sender) placed on the outer packaging
IATA / air freight
Applies only to cells / batteries ALONE (UN 3480):
- !!! May not be shipped in air freight any more !!!
Applies only to cells / batteries "packaged WITH equipment" (UN 3481):
Packaging:
- Max. 5 kg net (battery) per package
- Batteries / cells must be packed in inner packaging
- They must be secured against short-circuits
- Packed in strong, rigid outer packaging (barrels, canisters, boxes)
- Lithium marking (including the phone number of the sender) placed on the outer packaging
- Entry in the air waybill (AWB) stating: "Lithium-ion batteries, in compliance with Section II of PI 967"
Applies only to cells / batteries "IN equipment" (UN 3481):
Packaging:
- They must be secured against short-circuits
- Packed in strong, rigid outer packaging
Or
- Cells / batteries are protected by the equipment itself
- Accidental activation prevented
- Lithium marking (including the phone number of the sender) placed on the outer packaging
- Entry in the air waybill (AWB): "Lithium-ion batteries, in compliance with Section II of PI 967"
